The dedication is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11. This first tribute garden is a living tribute to celebrate the heroism our emergency services – fire, police, and emergency medical personnel - continue to provide every day for the people of our community. The 2007 Opportunity Enterprises PACK-A-THON will be held starting at 8:00 am on September 22 at Opportunity Enterprises, located at 2801 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso. The day will end when the last race packet is stuffed, approximately 2:00 pm. The PACK-A-THON is a fast-paced day of service and fun that brings together over 800 community volunteers to stuff race packets for the runners of the 2007 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon.

Volunteers are encouraged to attend alone or in groups, as this is the ideal service opportunity for school or church groups, clubs, or sports teams. The Valparaiso Parks Foundation is hosting its annual fall fundraiser Sunday In The Park on September 23 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Rogers-Lakewood Park, 5320 N. Meridian Road in Valparaiso. The Mediterranean-themed gathering includes Paul Luther on acoustic guitar, hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, and pontoon boat rides set in one of Valparaiso’s most scenic locations.

The VALPARAISO LAKES AREA CONSERVANCY DISTRICT/LAC UTILITIES announced it will be flushing their water system during the evenings from SEPTEMBER 28 TO OCTOBER 26, 2007. Residents may experience cloudy water and low pressure for short periods of time.

The LAC UTILITIES area includes Burlington Beach, Blackhawk Beach, Hillcrest Beach and Edgewater Beach; and Kingsridge North, Ridgewood Creek, Walden, Woodmere, Stonehenge and Wildrose subdivisions.
